Formed in 1993 in San Antonio, Texas to address the depleted availability of quality, affordable housing for low to lower-income individuals and families, including seniors and persons with special needs, HCS founders also shared a common interest to restore through its communities the opportunity for success in many areas of life.A 501c3 nonprofit organization, HCS began its efforts by first acquiring multifamily properties that were designated for removal from the affordable housing market. Complementing its diverse housing options with a variety of educational, lifestyle and social services, HCS has seen numerous residents as well as members of the surrounding neighborhoods achieve both personal and professional goals through the stability afforded by this comprehensive approach. From the civic and community-minded handful of individuals who comprised the organization’s initial efforts, HCS has grown to number over 35 properties in multiple locales across the state of Texas.
